Religious Education
This is a Catholic school and all rites and ceremonies are those of the Catholic Church. The practice of our Faith is fundamental to the life of the school.

Religious Education is given according to the doctrines and practices of the Catholic Church. The school follows the Diocesan approved syllabus (the Way, the Truth & the Life). The school works closely with the Parish and welcomes frequent visits by the priests – who are wholly involved in the spiritual and administrative life of the school. In addition to Masses in school the children join the Parish in Church on major feast days.

Colletive Worship is an intergal part of life at Holy Name.  A variety of liturgical celebrations and assemblies take place appropriate to the age of the children.

The other major religions of the world, Islam, Sikhism, Buddhism, Judaism and Hinduism are positively acknowledged within our curriculum and their traditions and beliefs are taught. Children who practice these religions are welcomed in our school and their families are encouraged to take an active part in the life of the school. Other World Faiths are studied at the beginning of every half term ensuring that all our children feel part of our school community.  The knowledge organisers for our Other World Faith studies can be found by following the link above. As part of the commitment to our Equality Objectives we are an inclusive school that celebrates all faiths beyond our own, encouraging the children and parents to come and share thier beliefs.

Parents should be aware that they do have the right to withdraw their children from Acts of Worship and Religious Education if they so wish. Alternative arrangements would be made by the Headteacher if this was requested.
