Happy New Year!07 Jan 2022Happy New Year!We hope that you have had a good rest over the holidays and we wish you all a Happy New Year!
This Week
This week we have used our time during literacy to learn about the story of the Epiphany. The children have reflected on how the Kings must have felt as they met Jesus. They have written and sequenced the story as well as retold the story in the Godly Play area.

Also this week....

The children have a new set of words to learn: first, then and next and the letters that they were introduced to this week: j and w. Please can you ensure the children practise writing and sounding the letters, could you also give them words containing the letters learnt so far to help them practise sounding out the words, and then writing them. The children should now be able to sound and name all the letters in phase 1+.

Please continue to practise with your child all the high frequency words that have been so far. Also, please let us know if you are missing any other phonics sheets and we will replace them for you (the phonics sheets are numbered).

Next week

This week the children will be introduced to the phonemes x and y. We will be using these sounds and those learnt so far to blend the sounds (push sounds together) to read words and segment (break sounds up) in a word to spell. They will also have two new key words to use; her and his.

Topic and Literacy

This week as we start our traditional tales topic, we begin with the story of Hansel and Gretel. We will enjoy learning the story and write about our favourite characters using adjectives to describe them.

During numeracy we will work on subitising to six with a dice using counting and track games to work on this.
Have a lovely weekend

Best wishes
