It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...03 Dec 2021It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas...

This week

We have been writing to Santa to report back as to the mischief the lf has been getting up to! We wait to see what Santa has to say!
He has been up to lots of mischief such as throwing snow balls and climbing the Christmas tree!

During RE we have been learning about the Prophet Isiah through Godly play, they have noticed that the liturgical colours in our prayer corner have changed to purple which signifies we are getting ready for the Good News which is coming very soon!

We started off with our first three Christmas Craft sessions this week. It is lovely to see just how excited the children have been to welcome their parents, grandparents, sisters, cousins and aunties into class!

Next Week

This week the children will be introduced to the letters j as in jug and v as in van. We will be using these sounds and those learnt so far to blend the sounds (push sounds together) to read words and segment (break sounds up) in a word to spell.

Topic and Literacy

The children will continue to write letters to Santa about the Elf’s behaviour, concentrating on using adjectives to improve their sentnces. They will also use their reading skills to read and follow instructions to begin to make a Christmas Stocking gift to take home.

This week in provision, the children will be working on using their counting skills to pay for items in the café including counting in 1s, 2s and 10s when paying in 1ps and 2ps as well as 10ps.

Also, a final note that if you have not already done so, we ask if you could please supply a black or grey top for your child in a named bag for the Nativity.

The dress rehearsal is on FRIDAY! (jikes!), so please please ensure these items are sent in by Wednesday morning at the latest.
Thank you so much for organising your time to make this possible, it is a real credit to you that all 30 children have an adult signed up to take part in the sessions.
Have a good weekend!

Best wishes
Mrs. Fletcher
