Welcome back!05 Nov 2021Welcome back!This Week

The children have settled back into the routines of school very smoothly this week and were straight back into learning mode at 8.50am on Monday!

They have enjoyed the different activities we have had centred around Bonfire Night; painting pictures, counting fireworks (on the whiteboard!) and discussing things we see at a bonfire party and what they are like and how they made us feel. They also wrote lists of things which they would find at a bonfire party as well as writing lists in the role play areas.
The indoor role play area has now transformed into a cafe, and the children are writing food orders, looking through the menus to choose some of the delicious food on offer and using money to pay for the items.

In numeracy the children have been getting to grips with ordering numbers to 20 as well as working on the concepts of more and less.

Also, the children celebrated the week`s bonfire activities by making chocolate sparklers! They observed the effects the heat had on the chocolate as it melted. They were DELICIOUS.

If this wasn’t enough excitement we also celebrated Diwali by making Mandala patterns, dancing and a visit from Tavneets family who brought the children lovely Diwali treats!
We even had time for a stay and play too!

Next week

This week the children will be introduced to the letters ck and e
We will be using these phonemes and those learnt so far to blend the sounds (push sounds together) to read words and segment (break sounds up) in a word to spell. Please remember to revisit these sounds during the week and complete the activity sheet with your child.

Topic and Literacy

During this week we will be learning the words and, for. The words will be linked into a theme of party invitations where they will invite each other to a party which will take place on Friday afternoon!

In numeracy next week, the children will be introduced to the 1, 2, 5, and 10p coins. We will also start to combine two groups of objects to make a total.

Have a great weekend!

Best wishes
Mrs. Fletcher
