Phew! That WAS a busy week!08 Dec 2017Phew! That WAS a busy week!

This week

There has been a LOT happening!
Throughout the week, as you will be aware, Christmas Craft afternoons have been happening over the week and the feedback from parents and carers who have come along has been very positive.

On Monday morning, the children were treated to a visiting panto, which this year was Aladdin. The children were SO excited; for some it was their first ever experience of a panto, so we made sure we `coached` them beforehand so they knew the protocols, "Oh no you didn`t" (Oh yes we did!). The actors even came for a special visit to class before the show to explain their characters and reassure the children.

Of course, we also had our very own performance as the children took part in this years Nativity.

They sang beautifully and really did a superb job! What superstars they are!

Next Week

Phonics

This week the children will be introduced to the letters le (as in bottle) and ss (as in dress) . We will be using these sounds and those learnt so far to blend the sounds (push sounds together) to read words and segment (break sounds up) in a word to spell.

Topic and Literacy

The children will continue to use their reading skills to read and follow instructions to make a Christmas Stocking. They will also read the nativity story and make their own Christmas booklets. During the afternoons, as well as Christmas crafts the children will continue to learn about the significance of the Nativity and hear and respond to the Godly Play presentation for the Third week of Advent.

Numeracy

This week we will be looking at ordering numbers to 20, the children will have to do various tasks such as delivering presents to the house numbers in order.

On a final note, could I ask that you bring in a named plastic bag for your child on Monday so we can use it on the last day to send home any cards, gifts and crafts they make over the final week. Many thanks.

Have a great weekend!

Best wishes
Mrs. Fletcher
