It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…01 Dec 2017It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

This week

We have been writing to Santa to report back as to the mischief the lf has been getting up to! We wait to see what Santa has to say!

We have also started our Godly Play sessions on advent and the children made their own paper Advent wreaths.

Next Week

Phonics
This week the children will be introduced to the letters l (as in lion) and ll (as in hill). We will be using these sounds and those learnt so far to blend the sounds (push sounds together) to read words and segment (break sounds up) in a word to spell.

Topic and Literacy

They will use their reading skills to read and follow instructions to make a Christmas Stocking gift to take home.

Numeracy

This week we will continue to practise different methods to take away as well as recapping on ordering numbers to 20, the children will have to do various tasks such as delivering presents to the house numbers in order.

Also, a final note that if you have not already done so, we ask if you could please supply a black or grey top for your child in a named bag for the Nativity.

The dress rehearsal is on MONDAY! (jikes!), so please please ensure these items are sent in by Monday morning at the latest.

Also next week…

As well as all of this, Christmas Craft afternoons begin next week and grown-ups are invited to come into class and make a Christmas decoration with their child from 2.15pm. If you haven't signed up for a slot yet please put your name on the form in the cloakroom, or if you can’t get in, ring the main office and we will book a slot in for you. We wouldn’t want you to miss out!

Finally don’t forget that the PTA Winter wonderland is on Saturday morning in the school hall. Please come along and say hello!

Have a good weekend!

Best wishes
Mrs. Fletcher
